WINEPHOTO was originally born to be a place where photography relates to wine in an unruly and unusual way, interpreting it or playing with it wriggled by the commercial and traditional sides of photography.
In the years the Contest has evolved and it’s now a collection of stories about the contemporary world, explored in every edition by the annual theme’s point of view.
So together with the main Contest in 2004, we launched Premio Produttori WineDay.. years later the main contest has changed and we decided to have a special mention closer to our original project. This is when the Special Mention Food Writers was born.
The annual awarding and exhibit takes place every year in a village nearby Venice, Mogliano Veneto. So, in 2010, we decided to promote an additional special section related to the young photographers from area where Winephoto was born, to see their vision of the place where they live: 2010 has been the first year of IntraMoenia, that means infact “inside the walls”.
Despite the changes we still borrow the words of a famous french poet to affirm that wine is “fatally evocative, it lives a different life more than its own: it lives fantasies which it animates and makes fruitful.” And here we gather together the images of these fancies.
