There are words which definition does not reflect upon their essence, because they contain many worlds and various realities in themselves and too variegated are the feelings they evoke. These are words – such as wine and photography - with a more vast alphabet than the letters needed to write them on paper.
The photographic prize Wine Photo was born in 2004 for this reason: being a privileged stage of meeting and fun in which wine and photography borrow each other language ispirating one another.
Since the beginning, it has appeared as the most original and, because of a jury of international level, the most important photographic contest related to wine.
In the years we have had entries from all over the world, mainly from Italy, Northern Europe and North America.
Among the past winners of WINEPHOTO there are several young authors that are receiving many international acknowledgements.
It is a free contest, there is no entrance fee, open to anyone who would like to give a personal photographic interpretation of the theme, that is annually chosen between words, concepts, feelings related to the wine world.
Photographers are encouraged to be free in their interpretation that doesn’t have to be necessarely and litteraly pertaining to wine.
The jury, who will gather together by the end of may 2008, selects the twenty strongest bodies of work and among these the five winners. The exhibit of selected work and winners will be held during the awarding in the Town of Mogliano Veneto (Treviso). The Town of Mogliano is also the sponsor of the first prize since 2004.
The contest is now also under the patronage of Veneto Region.
The awarding 2008 will be during WINEPHOTO 2008 in June 7-8-9 in the occasion of WINEDAY 2008, event which will bring together under one roof many important vintners from Italy and abroad. WINEDAY 2008 will kick off on Monday 9 June at the Villa Braida in Mogliano Veneto in the outskirts of Treviso.
During this fifth edition, as in the preceding ones, not only the theme, but the prizes and the final exhibition reflect the spirit of the contest.  a sort of long wine tasting among the images, with a aftertaste in our mouths, persisting until at least the next edition.
So, welcome all.
